As we celebrate India’s 78th Independence Day, it is a good time to recognise the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative for self-reliance in defence manufacturing. Over the last 7 decades, CUMI’s focus as a leader in materials science has been to engineer innovative materials that enable the highest protection for our forces at the frontlines.
From advanced ceramics that are extremely lightweight and offer highest ballistic protection as body and vehicle armour, Phase Change Materials (PCMs) that enhance soldier survivability in the harshest environments, and graphene with potential stealth applications – materials science is constantly pushing the boundaries to equip our military forces with future-ready protective gear and cutting-edge systems.
We are also working to build self-sufficiency in defence-critical raw materials and drive innovation through R&D in-house as well as collaborative partnerships with government, industry and academia.
