‘My Journey through Lala Land’ A fascinating insight into the Indian Entrepreneurs by Mr. B.D. Nathani

New Delhi : A Book ‘My Journey through Lala Land’ by Mr. BD Nathani was launched recently at an happening event in the capital. Guests included major brands’ MDs like Mr Anupam Bansal- Liberty Shoes; Mr Rishabh Soni-SSIPL; Mr Ajay Agarwal- G&D Shoes ( Disney Shoes)from the footwear and apparel industry. Mr Shreevats Jaipuria- Vice Chairman- Jaipuria Group was the Chief Guest of the evening. Mr H. Chaturvedi- BIMTECH; Dr D N Pandey- JIM, Noida, Dr. Vikas Nath- BVIMR; Dr Rajiv Thakur- VIBS also graced the occasion.
Mr. Nathani shares his experience of working with the Indian businessmen or ‘Lalas’ over a time span of three decades. He has been associated with  reputed companies namely Aero Group of the Woodland fame, Liberty Shoes, Lotto , New Balance, Disney Shoes. He has also worked in the Education sector with Jaipuria Group, BIMTECH , BVIMR, JIM.

 The book makes an interesting read as it  tells the true tale of how the author built and grew Woodland from a small footwear company based in Karol Bagh to an international brand with the help of a visionary family business owner. In My Journey Through Lala Land, a memoir of a humble salesman and a marketing genius, B D Nathani dispels the myths associated with traditional family owned businesses. Whether he worked for a Gujju lala or a baniya lala, the author describes how most traditional family business owners in his experience built successful businesses strategically Besides, they also enabled him to launch one of the most well-known international footwear and lifestyle brands in India, including Lotto, New Balance and Hi Tech.

 The book, thus, is an excellent read for not only middle rung mangers but also management students who wish to know what makes a brand successful.
